As a valuable visual learning tool, concept mapping can provide an interactive and effective active learning strategy that may be used to encourage learning through many cognitive processing tasks and in a variety of educational settings, including the clinical practicum and classroom. Some of these tasks include decision making, prioritizing, and applying the nursing process. Because of their multidimensional use, concept maps are a valuable tool for nursing education.
