LGBTQ People & Issues gives readers concrete data about the pervasive negative effects of homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, as well as how these effects are compounded by racism, classism, etc. It can be used in courses on LGBTQ issues, courses dealing with human sexuality, and courses with a broad focus on social inequality. E. Cabell Hankinson Gathman holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she has taught in the Department of Sociology and the Department of Gender and Women's Studies. Dr. Gathman's research and teaching interests include communication and information technologies, the sociology of science and technology, and sexualities.
