Sharfer, a young Jewish girl, is sent far away from the Torah life she knows, and finds herself alone with her little brother, Daniel, in the sleepy country village. Unlike the others, she isn?t taken in by kindly farmers. Rochel and Daniel are placed with Miss Darwen in Gorshuch Hall, where secrets abound and danger stalks. As the war continues, the British efforts are consistently sabotaged by German spies. There is a strong suspicion that the spies are hiding out in Burroclough. Rochel is quickly drawn into a web of suspense and intrigue, unsure whom she can trust. She has only her faith and her wits to rely on. The danger mounts and the puzzle deepens.
