Where applicable, the alternatives have been listed to avoid gluten and casein. The meals are also low in sugar, colour-free, and additives-free. Drinks have not been listed however, your child should be drinking water as much as possible. Where fruit juices are consumed, make sure you buy the types with no added sugar, and for younger children, water them down a little. Soft drinks should be avoided, especially those that are artificially sweetened (i.e. low fat or diet). You will also notice minimal meat being used in the lunches. This is to avoid food spoilage and potential build up of bacteria, as schools rarely have refrigerators available for children to store their food. It is also important to try and use organic ingredients as much as possible. This will assist in minimising the hormones and pesticides that your child is exposed to.
