depression, abuse, agoraphobia, claustrophobia, addiction, jail, rehabilitation. What in the world was all of this? When you’re five years old, life should be full of excitement, adventure, learning, trusting your parents, and feeling loved. If only that were true in my life. When you’re just a little girl, you crave comfort and understanding from those you trust. Oh, how I wish I could have had that. As I got older, I realized something was not right. I did not have any comfort or understanding; instead, I was in fear all of the time. Would I get hit or beaten without expecting it? Did I do something wrong? I never knew. Whom could I turn to? Living with any kind of abuse is hard. Reliving it is harder. As you read my book you will realize how life can change for the worse for a young child who does not receive proper care and guidance so vital in early childhood. For me, life was a very difficult and scary place to be. I spiraled downward going through many obstacles before I got to where I am today. I had no idea of what was about to happen or what was coming our way. I only know that I did what I had to do growing up just to survive. I can only hope through reading my book, many people will learn how important the first five years of a child’s life can be in a general purpose or meaning for their future. I also hope it can help other people like myself, make a change in their lives for the better.
