Heavlee Manor.Upon retirement, an American and his wife go on a world tour. They only got as far as Scotland where they found and fell in love with the village of Heavshire and Heavlee Manor. They decided to stay and before long the man was being referred to, by the locals, as The Gillie of Heavlee Manor. The town of Heavshire negotiated a long term lease for the Gillie. This assured that Heavlee Manor could be passed to the Gillie's heirs as long as it was kept up.It took several years before the Gillie established a real relationship with the Wee People of Heavlee Manor although he seen them many times. Finally the grand meeting occurred. The Wee People and The Gillie had to negotiate the dispute of who could use the Back Forty of Heavlee Manor and when. The negotiations were interesting because the Wee People begrudgingly gave in to the Gillie's rules while trying to appear the winners and save face.A small example of the negotiation is:Melzium stepped forward and said, "We are glad that you saw the need for all five points that we presented in our negotiations." "Wait'" I demanded, "I believe that I put those terms on the table!" Empathios replied, "A mere misunderstanding on your part.Amiable relations were finally developed and The Gillie was introduced to such interesting individuals as Guthrum the Forgetful, Melzium the Magnificent (the Leader of the West), Empathios the Sensitive (the Leader of the South), and many more special Wee People. The Wee People accepted him as almost the equal to their leaders and they included him in many of their discussions. The Wee People adopted The Gillie's holidays and he also accepted theirs. After his wife's death The Gillie returned to the United States. When sitting at a back table, in a local soda shop, he met and was befriended by the author. It was not long until the Gillie began to tell his new friend about the Wee People that occupied the Back Forty of Heavlee Manor. Over a period of time the Gillie relayed many Wee People stories. He told of wedding, births, deaths, and celebrations. The Gillie took Guthrum on his first fishing trip in the episode entitled Guthrum Fishing Adventure. There were also mysteries such as The Terrorists, The Confused Rose Bush, The Mysterious Dress, and Guthrum's Health Problem, all of which The Gillie was involved in the solving. Then he mysteriously disappeared one night and was not heard from for sometime. On the author's birthday he received an E-Mail from Scotland and it was from The Gillie. The two men reformed their bond and the stories continued to flow via E-Mail. There are stories about The Clay Vessel (and the lost village), The Big Storm, Pipe and Tobacco, and the courtship of The Gillie and Reverend Mildred Wilson.During this later period The Gillie was able to re-establish relations with most of his children. They had disowned him when he went back to Scotland after his wife's death. The stories of these reconciliations occur in the stories about The Gillie's last Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations at Heavlee Manor (A Thanksgiving to Remember and Miracle at Heavlee Manor.)This flow of stories continued until the death of The Gillie.
