English Language Development (ELD) standards and English Language Arts (ELA) standards side-by-side and organized in a logical, pedagogical way. This resource tool supports teachers in designing instruction that integrates ELD and ELA standards and appropriate assessment. The Map also highlights essential standards a those most heavily assessed on California's tests (California Standards Tests and California High School Exit Exam) and the ELD standards assessed on the California English Language Development Test (CELDT). The fifth edition for grades K-5 updates the list of essential standards, based on the most current test blueprints, and adds two new features that teachers have been asking for: an ELD report card and a abridgea for using the Map with California's adopted reading textbooks. The ELD report cards, available in Spanish and English, align with the Map and the ELD standards, allowing teachers to report in a meaningful, seamless way on their ELD students' progress. The new bridge feature makes it simple for teachers using the Houghton Mifflin or Open Court reading series to see the ELA standards covered in a textbook lesson and easily locate them in the Map.
