Hamilton continued his activism and was involved in the apartheid struggle in South Africa. Dr. Hamilton's daughter, Carol was on the staff of Secretary of Commerce Ronald Brown. She died in the plane crash that took the lives of Secretary Brown's entourage in Africa that represented the United States at the inauguration of President Nelson Mandela in 1994.
