The book is "error-driven" in that it offers explanations of more than 300 of these common errors. Using an "Error/Correct" format, all errors are modeled, as are the way(s) to correct them. The handbook contains more than 800 of these "Error/Correct" pairs. The book was originally intended for Spanish speakers who have developed a basic competency in English, but after field testing, its value for non-Spanish-speaking students has been recognized and the intended audience broadened to native English speakers with heavy oral influences and students of other native languages. The book can be used as a text but is also excellent for individual study.
