Some important changes that have influenced this edition were not changes in the law. Torts and Compensation, Fourth Edition has been revised to better reflect the cultural attitudes and preoccupations of students entering the 21st Century. Moreover, the new edition benefits from the authors' experience in teaching the materials, as well as from the suggestions made by their students and other teachers. As with the previous editions, the new edition focuses primarily (though not exclusively) on injury law, and it includes tort law's neighbors-workers' compensation, no-fault, and social security disability. Throughout, the authors seek to challenge students to build professional skills in analysis and synthesis, in policy judgment and in a sense of justice.
