We hope to take the mystery out of writing, to refute the idea held by many students that the ability to write clearly and effectively is a gift. To this end, we stress that writing involves a series of choices that a writer makes. We offer detailed explanations of what these choices consist of, and we provide insights and recommendations to help the writer make the appropriate rhetorical decisions. Writing Essays is concerned with giving students practice in developing papers not only in a course in English composition but for courses in any other discipline.
