Lachman's well-known informal and engaging writing style has been preserved throughout the book, including his tactic of formulating incisive, well-placed questions and then quickly supplying answers. A new chapter, "Central Venous Catheterization", has been added to the text and all other chapters have been updated to reflect the newest advances in treatment and diagnostic methods.
