Thomasson and Pesut integrate the use of technology (assuming no prior graphing calculator skills on the part of students); allow students to experience algebra through discovery and visualization; illustrate multiple approaches (numerical, graphical, algebraic, and verbal) to problem solving; use real-world situations to help students connect algebra to other fields of mathematics as well as other disciplines; and ask students to communicate mathematically as well as work collaboratively in groups.
