a standardized-test format. Second, they allow the teacher to introduce or extend the concepts taught in each Art connections lesson. There are thirty-six lessons in this book, one for each lesson in the Art Connections program. Each lesson contains two blackline master pages. The first page provides practice in grade-appropriate reading skills from letter recognition to vocabulary, comprehension, cause and effect, making inferences, and predicting outcomes. The second page in each lesson provides practice with writing and language arts skills, including grammar, usage, mechanics and organization. The content in each test preparation lesson is based on the corresponding Art Connections lesson. It may give more information about the artwork or artist featured in the lesson reinforce the element or principle taught, or provide more information about the technique or medium used in the Creative Expression activity. Visual arts education involves students in problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, and evaluation-skills that student use not only in testing situation, but also outside the school environment. The lessons in this book reinforce those skills while enriching the visual arts curriculum.
