The University of Texas Brownsville was created in 1991 to serve the residents of South Texas. Today, 13,000 students attend UTB. The university offers 63 undergraduate degrees in six colleges and master's degree programs in five colleges. Nine Centers of Excellence bring outside resources to campus in science research, education, and public service programs.
